Hudson Earned His Next Belt

Hudson earned his Blue Striped belt tonight. Hudson has been a dedicated student for several years and has matured and overcome many obstacles. I feel lucky to have such amazing students who put their hearts and spirits into their training and practice. Hudson comes more than an hour early almost daily and often assists with the beginner’s class. He aspires to follow in his mother’s footsteps and become a teacher, and all the parents who stay and watch comment on how well he works with the smaller children. I do not doubt that as he continues on this path, Hudson will succeed at whatever he decides he will do. Keep up the good work!

We Stand for the Pledge

I LOST SIX STUDENTS LAST WEEK… Because at the Bushido dojo, We Stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. A woman came to our dojo to sign her six grandchildren. She loved our training hall and was impressed with what we teach until I asked for our “Warrior of the Day” to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. She called her children off the mats and said she did not believe in the American Flag. I told her that this is a free country and that not standing for the Pledge of Allegiance is the right of a free citizen.
